McJam

An exhibition on the future of food safety

Design for Interaction Master - TU Delft

McJam was an exhbition on the future of food security. In the future, we might have to change to alternate ways of feeding our growing population. Particularly given the challenges the climate crisis will present. One way of feeding ourselves, might be using insects. However, whether these can be eaten by everyone, from every background and with every belief, is still an open question. This exhibition was a way for individuals to think about not only the securing enough food but also the alignment of that food with their own beliefs and values. And the compromises they might have to make in the future.

In this project, I was responsible for all the work on the interactive systems. The brains for this project was build in Max 7. It connected an arduino, together with a remote server that rendered a website on a phone. This website was used as a display. The arduino was used to control the lights, servo and the sound in the exhibition space and receive input from the user.
